Updated plans for Broad and Washington to be presented next week

It has been a little while now since we’ve heard any updates on the projects happening at Broad and Washington. There’s the massive Bart Blatstein development, along with a smaller mixed-use development being planned for this intersection.

At Hawthorne Empowerment Coalition’s general meeting on Tuesday, October 13, you’ll have the chance to hear the latest news for Broad and Washington.

It’s unclear which projects will be discussed at the meeting, but here’s the latest on both developments.

Around this time last year, Blatstein presented preliminary plans for his development. This massive mixed-use project is expected to include 210,000 sq. ft. of retail space, including a grocery store (though it won’t be a Wegmans), restaurants, a bike shop and other retailers. The residential portion was still in flux at the last presentation, but is expected to be two separate towers with between 20 and 28 stories, and anywhere between 500 and 800 units in each tower.  You can read more about those plans here

The other development is a mixed-use structure that is expected to include 310 apartments and 70,000 sq. ft. of retail space. There isn’t a ton of information available about this project, besides the name Lincoln Square and a rumor that it is a Toll Brothers project. You can read more about it here.

In addition to these two, huge developments in the works at Broad and Washington, there’s another mixed-use development being planned a little farther down Broad Street, along with other developments popping up elsewhere on Washington Avenue.

If you’re interested in hearing more about what is happening at Broad and Washington, the meeting is being held on Tuesday, October 13 at 7 p.m. at the Hawthorne Recreation Center at 12th and Carpenter.
