Earlier this year the establishment had been facing eviction due to back rent. Now the building has been sold and the new owner has forced the bar out of the location, according to Philly.com.

Here’s a statement from Wishing Well’s Facebook page:

To our Friends, Neighbors and Patrons:

It is with great sadness that I announce The Wishing Well is permanently closed. I have put my heart and soul into this place over the past 6 years and it has been my great honor to serve each of you.

All of the laughs and cries we had along the way, the grand relationships we fostered and the small moments we shared, these memories will last a lifetime even if The Well will not.

I have done everything in my power to keep the drinks flowing, the food sizzling and the smiles coming for as long as possible. Though I have many regrets about our closing, I leave with a clear conscience and my eyes to the future.

I love you all.

That’s a shame. I always thought they never quite had the right formula, but it was a good place and the people who worked there were nice.
