First Pics: Pennsport Beer Boutique now open at 242 Wharton St.

It’s been a while since we’ve told you about the beer garden coming to 242 Wharton St. Due to some neighborhood opposition, it took longer than expected to open.

About two weeks ago, the Pennsport Beer Boutique finally opened for business with a selection of about 500 different beers.

The beers are sorted by location of the brewery, in addition to cases for seasonal beers and craft beer cans. They also have 8 beers on tap. They aim to keep their selection unique with a mix of craft beers from near and far.

This new business is meant as a drink-in or take-out spot for beer. There are about 35 seats inside, along with seating for 50 people outdoors. The outdoor space includes heat lamps and a fire pit, so they hope to keep the outdoor space open year-round. The Beer Boutique is dog-friendly, so feel free to bring along your canine friends.

Pennsport Beer Boutique is a new business from the owners of Caffe Valentino, located just across the street. While there is not a full kitchen at this location, you can order some pre-made items from Valentino, like sandwiches and wraps, or order something from the Valentino menu (pizza and beer, anyone?). There’s also MoJo’s Pop Co. in stock. Since the food menu at the actual bottle shop is limited, you can also bring your own food in to snack on while enjoying some brews.

They plan to host a weekly raffle, along with some yet-to-be-determined programming. You can stop in to enjoy the game from one of their 5 TVs (you can also see the TVs from outside), play one of their many board games, or just to enjoy a beer.

Why would they have trouble getting their permits?

Nice place! The owners are very friendly (I met them when my husband & I stopped by last Friday). Good bottle selection but I wish the taps were more adventurous. Hopefully they will start happy hour specials.
The election signs make the place look cheap though- hopefully they won’t scare customers away!

I’m looking forward to trying a brick oven pizza next time! Nice addition to the avenue.
