Plenty Cafe reopening this week after renovation, addition of full bar

If you’ve had a craving for a sandwich from Plenty at any point since the summer, you’ve probably ended up disappointed, discovering that they’re still closed for renovation.

plenty-cafeSo here’s the good news: your wait for Plenty Cafe is almost over. The new-and-improved cafe will reopen this Friday with their standard sandwiches and coffee, along with a new dinner menu and booze to boot.

So what all has changed at Plenty? The location has been remodeled, adding more European charm to the space to fit the international style the restaurant aims for through their menu and decor. The space was last renovated in 2012 with a larger coffee bar. This time, you’ll be seeing a different kind of bar, thanks to the cafe’s acquisition of a liquor license earlier this year.

The full bar will feature 6 draft beers and 6 draft wines. In total, Plenty will be serving 7 red wines, 7 white wines, 1 rose and 2 sparkling options. Other drinks will include a selection of brunch drink cocktails representing different locations internationally. One option will be their Korean Bloody Mary, featuring kimchi, gochujang and daikon. There are also 30 different options of bottled beers.

As far as the food menu goes, there will be the old-standard sandwiches for the cafe, along with dinner and small plates options. Their “Bites & Boards” selection includes things like marinated olives, house-cured charcuterie and kimichi deviled eggs. Other additions to the menu include Toasts, an Evening Menu and Desserts. Their dinner dishes include things like Tunisian chicken skewers, Grilled Radicchio and more.

You’ll be able to get anything from the breakfast, salads, sandwiches, “Bites & Boards,” toasts and dessert menus at any time of the day. The Evening menu is available once table service begins at 4 p.m. each day. Plenty will operate with normal counter service prior to that time.

Along with the reopening of the East Passyunk Avenue location, there should be some news about the opening of the new Queen Village location pretty soon.

Is it any bigger? Sounds like a lot of shove in a small space.
