Newbold seeing increase in home burglaries
As a neighborhood sees positive change, it’s sometimes easy to forget about the not-so-positive things happening.
As of late, Newbold has been seeing an increase in home burglaries. So what can you do to keep your home safe?
The homes affected in the area were located on these blocks:
- 1800 Block of Federal
- 1500 Block of Manton
- 1800 Block of Manton
- 1700 Block of S Hicks
- 1800 Block of Fernon
In these instances, the burglars entered through front or back windows of houses, mainly of homes with unlocked windows. So let this be a reminder to check all of your locks and take precautions if you’re going to be away from your home for any periods of time this holiday season.
Lock your windows/doors. Install a security door if necessary. A home security system with interior motion detectors and sensors on the windows will discourage most crooks – get one that links up via cell so it can’t be disabled by cutting the land line.
1700 block of Watkins as well. Got through my side kitchen window. House ransacked.
In addition, there’s been an uptick in the 3rd District on the East side of Broad as well.
20th and Jackson and 18th and Daly also. Got In through my back door. Completely wrecked my home.
