Changes coming to corner commercial space at 17th and Federal

The corner of 17th and Federal will be seeing a transformation in the future.

The building was recently purchased according to the Philly Property Hunters team at Coldwell Banker. The owner of the building is planning to improve the entire structure, specifically the ground-floor commercial space that has been vacant for over a year, along with renovating the building to add an additional story.

The new owner of this building is also responsible for other changes happening in the neighborhood. Five houses are being built at the corner of 17th and Annin, along with another home at 17th and Alter.

As far as the corner property at 17th and Federal goes, expect to see a 3-story building with apartments and a commercial space. The ground floor space will most likely be used for a restaurant or other food-related business. The commercial space was previously a grocery/deli.

There are some tantalizing rumors about potential tenants for the ground floor space that we’re working to confirm. No word yet on a timeline for the renovations being made to the building.

What would you like to see open in the commercial space here?

Thank you for purchasing this eye sore!!! I have lived on Federal St for 5yrs, and am out almost everyday picking up trash etc. This is an area with a lot of potential, but it needs to be populated by people who care about what this area looks like!!!!
