South Philly has seen some great new restaurants in 2015.

South Philly Barbacoa was ranked as #3 on Zagat’s list.

So of course Zagat’s list of “10 Most Important Philadelphia Restaurant Openings of 2015” includes almost exclusively South Philly spots. Which restaurants made the list?

2. Stargazy, the first British bakery of its kind in the U.S., has made quite an impact on East Passyunk Avenue since it first opened over the summer. Located at 1838 E. Passyunk Ave.

3. South Philly Barbacoa made the move from a small food cart to a brick and mortar building for the first time to keep up with their ever-growing customer base. Located at 1703 S. 11th St.

4. Bing Bing Dim Sum was yet another exciting addition to East Passyunk Avenue this year, with an interesting take on Asian cuisine. Located at 1648 E. Passyunk Ave.

5. Kanella South opened in Queen Village, bringing Greek cuisine to the area. Located at 757 S. Front St.

7. Restaurant Neuf, the new restaurant from the owners of Noord, opened a few months ago, and just this week received a 2-bell review for its North-African and French-inspired cuisine. Located at 943 S. 9th St.

8. Triangle Tavern was reopened under new ownership in May, after being closed for more than six years. Located at 1338 S. 10th St.

9. Buckminster’s is the most recently opened restaurant that made this list. This new spot in Point Breeze is from the owners of Cafe Lift and Kensington Quarters. Located at 1200 S. 21st St.

What is your favorite restaurant that opened in South Philly this year?

The first three listed. Stargazy, Barbacoa, & Bing Bing. And I’ll throw Triangle in for the bar aspect.

Love Stargazy, Barbacoa, Triangle, Neuf, etc.

I’m disappointed with Bing Bing personally. Too expensive for what you get and I’m happier going to Chinatown (Dim Sum Garden). The only thing that lives up to the hype are the soup dumplings….still WAY too expensive though.
