2200 block of Winton Street being dedicated for Easy Company’s Bill Guarnere

Earlier this year “Babe” Heffron a local World War II veteran and member of the Easy Company depicted on the HBO miniseries Band of Brothers was honored with a bronze memorial statue in Pennsport.

Now fellow Philadelphian and Easy Company member, Bill Guarnere, is receiving some recognition of his own with the upcoming dedication of the 2200 block of Winton Street.

This portion of Winton Street, which is located between Snyder and Jackson, will now include the designation as “Wild Bill Way.”

This isn’t the only street renaming news for the Easy Company. Earlier in December we told you about the possibility for Heffron and Guarnere to also be honored with the renaming of Columbus Boulevard. The stretch from Washington to Oregon would be renamed as “William J. Guarnere and Edward “Babe” Heffron Memorial Boulevard.”

The ceremony for the dedication of the 2200 block of Winton Street will be held on Saturday, January 16 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
