Should the Snyder Avenue home of a former mob boss become a historical landmark?
In 1980, mob boss Angelo Bruno was murdered outside his Snyder Avenue home at the age of 69. Now 36 years later, his home could become a historical landmark for Philadelphia.
Located at 934 Snyder Ave., this former mobster’s home was nominated for historical designation by historian Celeste Morello. Normally mob-related landmarks aren’t considered as historical locations worth designating, but this home is being considered not only based on Bruno’s status, but because it helped shape federal laws for fighting organized crime.

The nomination is expected to be taken up next month by a committee of the Philadelphia Historical Commission.
“I assume it is our first historical property nomination related to Mafia history in Philadelphia. I can’t think that there is another one,” said Kim Broadbent, historic preservation planner on the staff of the Historical Commission. “It’s certainly a unique story about Philadelphia’s history that we don’t typically come across at the office.”

Designate a property where someone contributed something civic-worthy. This should not even be considered. Absolutely ridiculous.

She is a wack job ! I have thrown her out of a previous place of employment several times for harassing my employees names I won’t mention. But their families were involved in some way….
