New mixed-use development being planned for 24th and Wharton

It looks like a new mixed-use development could be making its way to Point Breeze. There’s already a lot of development being planned for this area, with 22 homes having been approved for 20th and Wharton last summer and another development with 46 single-family homes also in the works for that area.

Now the site of a recently-demolished building at 24th and Wharton could be making way for a mix of residential and retail.

More from Naked Philly:

When we look at this parcel, our first instinct is a six-home project, but the developers want to go in a different direction. They’re proposing a three-story mixed-use building with twelve 2-bedroom apartment units and a retail space on the ground floor. We’re all for the inclusion of some neighborhood retail at this location, especially considering that it’s right across the street from a large neighborhood green space.

A meeting about this project is being held on March 28 at 6:30pm at the South Philly H.O.M.E.S. meeting at 1444 Point Breeze Ave.
