Applying for a block party permit has been made even easier

With the return of warmer spring weather, our minds are wandering to summer days of enjoying the city – and what Philly summer is complete without a block party?

West Philly Local pointed out this new process for getting a permit to make your summer block parties a much easier task.

Instead of going to the Municipal Service Building, you can now apply for a block party permit online. These permits allow you to close your street off to traffic on weekends or holidays. The process for applying involves getting signatures from at least 75% of the households on the street, then following the forms on the new webpage.

It costs $25 for an application at least 21 days before the event. If the application and payment are submitted less than 21 days in advance, the cost is $60.

You can plan ahead for your summer gatherings and apply for a block party permit here.
