New American bistro set to open in former Breezy’s Cafe location

Last week we told you about the end of Breezy’s Cafe in its location at 1200 Point Breeze Ave. Breezy’s has a new location lined up, as does their former Point Breeze commercial space.

A new BYO American bistro called On Point will be bringing brunch and dinner options to this corner, likely by the end of summer. Owners Juan and Mallory Lopez are both experienced in the industry, mostly from working at Jose Garces restaurants.

More from Eater:

Once they sign the lease in May, construction will start. The Lopezes plan to turn the once counter-service cafe into a full-service restaurant. Gone will be the long counter splitting the room in two, opening up space for around 45 seats. Add a walk-in refrigerator and new flooring (among other cosmetic modifications), and the couple will be looking at a full-fledged restaurant by summer’s end.

On Point is proposed to be a family-friendly restaurant, with an all-American brunch menu (think omelettes, pancakes, waffles, french toast, “kind of like Sabrina’s”) served six days a week. A “more refined, but still family-friendly” dinner service will be offered four days a week, an avenue for Juan to really show off his cooking chops.

It better have legitimately good vegan options, or it’ll just be another filthy trash pit. Wet tofu scramble doesn’t count.

Yes. If the vegan options suck, then everything else must also suck and is a “filthy trash pit.” Sound logic.

as long as they don’t offer breakfast sandwiches ori will play nice, wonder if they are allowed to serve coffee or not

This is definitely the owner of Breezy’s or an employee sticking up for the owner of Breezy’s. You snoozed you loozed. Will you be bringing the permanent drunk sidewalk fixtures to your new location? I have a feeling the new tenants will take little more pride in the avenue when it comes to that. Let me know if I need to translate my comment into Vegan so you understand.

Vegan options? Pfft…who cares? You act like vegans account for sizable portion of the population. Not to mention most are on the decidedly low-end of the income scale…
