What would you like to see on Washington Avenue in the future?
We all know that Washington Avenue is changing. There’s the 32-story Blatstein project and Lincoln Square at Broad Street, the Frankford Chocolate Factory, plenty of other mixed-use projects popping up all along the street, plans for restriping, new businesses and plenty more development. There is a ton happening here already, but still so much room for growth and improvements.
Based on all of this, the South of South Neighborhood Association is now looking for some feedback on what you would like to see in the future on Washington Avenue.
This survey released by SOSNA includes questions about city services you’d like to see, new businesses, green space and more.

What do you hope to see in the future on Washington Avenue?
Less nails / broken glass and vigorous PPA enforcement of double and triple parking to start. Its like the wild west down there.
Agree with everything but the PPA vultures…
13 Parking garages, 5 South Philly Co Ops, Wegmans, Whole Foods, Trader Joe’s, a community garden, 3 dog runs, and a mixed use space.
Can we throw a coffee shop on at the end of your list?
it can go in the mixed use space along with the roller disco and the car wash.
Left turn signal at Broad and Washington, street cleaning, sidewalk trees….an Ivan Drago statue?
When you say street cleaning.. What does that entail? Because the street cleaners you guys usually have in mind are the biggest air polluters on the road when they’re on the road… And all they end up doing is scattering trash and gravel, not cleaning it up.
Trader joes or wegmans. We need a good grocery store in Pennsport.
pedestrian bridges … and real medians … with trees
Green space with a bike path, right down the center of wash Ave…. Turning lanes. It just doesn’t feel that it needs to be as wide as it is.. That center lane just gives it more reason to feel like a barrier between two neighborhoods instead of a corridor.
Why not an electric monorail like Disney World? LoL
The first step is for Councilman Johnson to have the brains/balls to re-zone ALL of Washington Avenue. Instead he uses each proposed project in need of a zoning variance as a political poker chip. He should not be placing his chubby ass hands on every project that comes down the pike.
But would SOSNA even push Johnson to do the right thing here? Not sure. Johnson did give SOSNA that shiny new plot of land/park. I’m guessing that was to buy their silence during his re-election campaign.
Turn the candy factory into a meat and produce station.
