Keystone bar could be opening in former Ugly American spot in May

It has now been a year since plans for a new restaurant in the former Ugly American location were announced. This bar, called Keystone, had originally been planning for late-May of 2015. Now it looks like this new spot in Pennsport could be ready to open a year behind schedule.

According to PhillyBite, this restaurant and bar for 1100 S. Front St. will be ready to open sometime in May.

We’ve been following the developments happening at this Pennsport spot for some time now. The building was first listed for $475,000 back in 2013. Property records show that the building was then sold for $425,000 in 2014. Rumors of a new restaurant and a liquor license showed up in 2014, prior to the announcement of a Pennsylvania-themed bar called Keystone in 2015.

This new spot from owners Sean Glynn, Bryan Tone and Steve Papa will be serving beers brewed in Pennsylvania. There will be 12 taps, along with bottled beers. This will total to as many as 30 or 40 varieties.

The project was previously delayed due to problems with the liquor license and the building’s historical designation. Let’s hope that this spot is finally ready to open this spring.
