Buckminster’s has closed in Point Breeze
In 2015 the corner of 21st and Federal saw some updates when renovations began on the former Burg’s Lounge location. Then in November a new restaurant from the owners of Kensington Quarters and Cafe Lift opened its doors here.
After just seven months in Point Breeze, Buckminster’s has now called it quits.
The neo-bistro had previously received a two bell review from Craig Laban for its addition to the dining scene in the neighborhood, showing “Point Breeze’s emergence is for real.”
The last night of services for Buckminster’s was on Saturday, June 11.
Now that Buckminster’s is gone, what would you like to see open in this now fully-renovated bar and restaurant space?
Was the demise of this place a testament to the poor idea behind the place, or that the neighborhood just isn’t ready for it yet?
The menu, concept and eexciting were terrible.
Ahh that’s a shame, could have been good for the neighborhood. An good alternative to ASB, maybe offering more cocktails, would be awesome.

I tied to like this place a few times. Each time I’ve been there it was empty, maybe 2-3 people sitting alone at the bar. The drinks were expensive, but good. I never tried the food, as we normally stopped there later in the evening for a nightcap. That location is probably better suited for a place with some cheaper drink/beer options, but competing with Sardine Bar might not be the right move in that area yet. In conclusion, I have no idea what I would like to see there.
Neighborhood not quite ready. Been to Buckminster’s a few times and was never disappointed. Food was amazing
