Spotted: Percy Street Project neon mural

A small side street near Pat’s and Geno’s is now the home of a new kind of mural.

Not only is this a colorful piece during the day, but upon nightfall, the mural comes to life. This neon-lit hidden gem on Percy Street is a project by David Guinn and Drew Billiau.

Guinn is responsible for colorful murals like the one at Manton Street Park and Community Garden, while Billiau has experience as a lighting designer. Together, their combined talents are brightening a small Passyunk Square street.

This is only part one of the project. To this point, Guinn has kept hush about what all the Percy Street Project entails. This mural was completed with the help of Mural Arts and the Knight Foundation.

While we don’t yet know what the rest of this project will look like, we’re excited to see how Percy Street will be transformed.
