A Man’s Image to reopen in smaller storefront at 1841 E. Passyunk Ave.

Over a year ago, Abe Mandel, the owner of A Man’s Image, announced plans for the store to close in its massive storefront at 1709 E. Passyunk Ave. and move to a smaller location in the area. Since then, Barcelona Wine Bar has been chosen as the new tenant for that 4,400 sq. ft. building.

A Man’s Image now has a new, much smaller location for you to shop to “cure the uglies.” The men’s clothing store is set to open at 1841 E. Passyunk Ave., in the location that was originally set to be occupied by a Buckingham Winery tasting room.

Mandel has plans to pass off the business to three of his salesmen, but he’ll still act as a consultant for the business. A Man’s Image opened in its East Passyunk Avenue storefront back in 1995. After more than 20 years in that location, it is time for Mandel to retire and for the store to downsize.

According to a post from the store on Facebook, the new A Man’s Image is expected to open by the end of September.

This is absolutely awesome!! This is the original location of the iconic Arnold’s Men’s Shop from years ago! This location being reborn into another men’s clothing store is just wonderful! Arnold’s Men’s Shop was in that location from the 1950’s until Arnold retired in the late 1980’s… I’m sure Arnold is very happy!!! I am sure old pictures are out there somewhere.
