SoPhilly Spotlight: Flashy fixer-upper edition

This week’s SoPhilly Spotlight is a Pennsport home located at 1325 E. Moyamensing Ave. that is in need of a lot of work.

The interior is filled with flashy decor, including stained glass windows, tacky chandeliers and purple carpeting. For $375,000, you could work to turn this 6 bedroom, 2 bathroom and 2,320 sq. ft. house into something special.

From the listing:

HUGE 3 story property in the hottest area of the city.
Needs total renovation, but has some very nice original features.
10+ foot ceilings, service stairway next to kitchen that goes to 2nd floor. So much to work with. Easily turn this into a gem.moyamensing-10

That seems extremely overpriced but great if they can get it!

I agree with Debra that it’s overpriced. It’s pretty dreadful and would need a total, to the studs, rehab.

It looks like a group of mummer lovers lived there or someone who enjoyed Mardi Gras.

Were these pictures taken in 1985?

I always wondered what it looked like in side. Before the new house was built next door the empty lot was decorated in the same manner as the house. Go figure.

The entry is pretty minus wallpaper etc. floors a mystery and it goes downhill with the wood paneling and drop ceilings. Maybe, the “bones” of the house are good once crappola is removed. Love the potential of room with all the windows. Too pricey at this point.

This doesn’t even pass as steampunkt! Someone will have to spend another $300k making it look like a home.
