Spotted: Fencing now surrounding former Grays Ferry Pathmark location. Is a new tenant coming soon?

We just shared with you news of ShopRite’s plans for opening their new Whitman Plaza location in September. There might now be some more promising grocery store news for South Philly, this time at the site of the shuttered Grays Ferry Pathmark.

Naked Philly spotted movement at the location, with fencing now surrounding the front of the store and permits showing construction work happening at the former grocery store.

From Naked Philly:

Looking at the L&I Map, we see two permits that partially explain the situation. In June, the property owners pulled a building permit to create a vanilla box grocery store space here, and that permit indicates that additional permits are required for tenant fit out. Two days ago, another permit was pulled, this time for alterations to the tenant space, including “new interior partition walls, accessible service counter, accessible restrooms, exterior concrete stairs, bollard installation, wall/floor/ceiling finishing, and roof mechanical support.” This sounds like the additional permit that’s required for tenant fit out, does it not?

In addition to the fencing, other residents have spotted SuperFresh trailers at the rear of the grocery store. It had previously been rumored that Fresh Grocer would take over this location.
