Whitman Plaza will have a free trolley service through the holiday season

Now that ShopRite has found a new home in Whitman Plaza, the shopping center is full of tenants with food, clothing and quite a few other retail options throughout. Everything from Burlington Coat Factory to PennDot is located in the plaza.

To allow for easier shopping during the holiday season, Whitman Plaza will have a free trolley service running through the plaza from 11 a.m. through 9 p.m., Thursday through Sunday.

Here’s a look at the trolley route:

The trolley will leave from a pickup location just outside of ShopRite and will continue through the plaza to allow shoppers easier access to the businesses. The trolleys can hold up to 23 people. The service will begin on Thursday, November 17 and will continue through December 31.

When I read trolly I thought – Hey, that’s kind of a neat idea. Probably a loop including the BSL stop and maybe some other stops that don’t overlap the G or the 7. Neat

I’m not going to ridicule the actual loop because it’s … something I guess. But don’t the people in this plaza usually arrive in a car already? And if not, surely they have walked further to get to the plaza than the distance between the stores?

Probably looking too much into this.

I thought the exact same thing! They need to walk a further distance to get there the parking lot shouldn’t be an issue. But your right its something haha

I’m confused. Soooo the trolley will stay inside the parking lot and just ride around letting people off and on between 11am and 9m???

At first I thought maybe the trolley started at Broad & Oregon picked up shoppers, then dropped off customers at the plaza.

If people can’t walk across the lot from shop rite to let’s say Burlington Coat without jumping on a trolley they have a problem. lol

Oh well it sounds like a great idea…

Although some have mentioned that it will help the disabled and the elderly, most of you have just jumped straight to the lazy factor. The fact that it is running during the holiday season has not entered your minds at all. There are quite a few stores in the shopping center where people could possibly be shopping for larger than normal amounts of items with heavier than normal bags. If you have to park in a far off spot, this usually proves to be a difficult task if you are by yourself. Especially when most shopping centers in the city won’t allow you to take your carts to your car (I don’t know if this is one of them). And you know that you can’t go to each store and put it in your car or it won’t be there when you get back, the items and/or the car.
Can we just get through an article without the “If I can do it, so can everybody else” attitude? Open your eyes to “what if you couldn’t do it?”
I do agree with the person that commented about the able bodied gym people taking up the closest spots though. You could use the farther spots as warm up.
