Village Taverna Greek restaurant replaces Imli Indian Kitchen in Queen Village
A new restaurant serving “Greek authentic food with Grandmas touch” has opened in the former location of Imli Indian Kitchen.
Village Taverna is now open at 769 E. Passyunk Ave., serving Greek dishes for under $20.
The orange storefront looks essentially the same, but some changes were made to the decor of the dining area.

Chef Konstantine Grigorakakis, who was at Athena in Glenside for many years, is executing what he and Dalamagas call a simple menu of Greek standards, with a few Italian dishes (such as the red and white mussels) for good measure. “I grew up in an Italian neighborhood,” says Dalamagas, who is from Chambersburg in Trenton.
Prior to Imli’s year-run in the spot, the location was home to Ulivo Italian BYOB for four years. Maybe a Greek restaurant will do better in this Queen Village corner location.
Hours are Tuesday through Thursday from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m., and Sunday from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. You can follow Village Taverna on Facebook.
Good luck to them. You can never have too much Greek food.
But then again, you can never have too much Indian food either imo, and Imli had some great dishes.
