Third generation D’Angelo Bros. meat shop expected to close at the end of the month
Since 1910, D’Angelo’s Bros. Specialty Meat shop has been an Italian Market fixture. With no successor in line to take over the business for 67-year-old Sonny D’Angelo, it is time to say goodbye to the long-standing business.
The third generation shop at 909 S. 9th St. is expected to close at the end of this month.

When D’Angelo, 67, hangs up his apron at the end of the month after a half-century of work, D’Angelo’s Specialty Meats is due to close. The building at 907-09 S. Ninth is being offered for sale privately, according to a neighbor briefed on the plans.
Don’t worry, everyone. The Italian Market BID will work hard to replace this vacant storefront with a respectable tenant who will blend nicely with the fabric of the historic area and bring quality, in-demand products and services to the neighborhood.

a shame, theres plenty of butchers but he had some good product. truly unique. even though I never went for the exotic game meats I can’t imagine another run of the mill butcher/coffee/cheese/pasta/pizza/sandwich/chochke/vegetable/gift/taqueria/….. there is so much redundancy in the IM, frankly Reading Terminal has better prices and variety.
