East Passyunk Avenue to become a winter wonderland with Arctic Ave. this Saturday

Now that it’s December, the holiday season is getting into full swing. To bring some more chill and holiday spirit to the area, East Passyunk Avenue will be having its Second Saturday celebration this weekend for the second annual Arctic Ave.

On Saturday, December 10, ice sculptures will be carved along the avenue, along with plenty of other seasonally-themed fun.

Starting at 11 a.m., you’ll be able to enjoy the festivities. Throughout the day there will then be an ice throne at Cantina, Olaf from the movie Frozen at the Singing Fountain, an ice carving battle at the “Cheesesteak Corner” and more. In total, more than 35 shops will have their own ice sculptures.

Other activities include a graffiti wall for kids to write on at Mifflin Triangle, live music, Santa at Urban Jungle, a stained glass show at Jeri’s Curio, along with other activities and deals at many of the avenue’s other restaurants and shops.

After the family-friendly fun is over, anyone 21-and-over can join in on a Cocktail Crawl. 15 Bar and restaurants will be participating with drink specials and specially-crafted seasonal cocktails.

Last year’s event featured some unseasonably warm temperatures for the ice carving. If the weather forecast is true, the weather should be perfect for this icy, late-fall event. You can find a full list of events and participating shops here.
