Former West Passyunk Avenue Goodwill to become a laundromat
A Goodwill store closed at 22nd and West Passyunk Avenue years ago.
After sitting vacant for some time now, the store’s former location is finally becoming something new. Permits pulled for the location show that a larger laundromat will be coming to that spot.

So what’s happening here? Drumroll please… it’s gonna be a laundromat! According to the permits, the place is going to be huge, with 67 washers and 47 dryers. Also interesting, the permits specifically call out that exterior alterations will include partial removal of the “front dilapidated portion of the building storefront/exterior walls.” We don’t remember seeing too many examples of other permits calling out the poor condition of an existing building, but maybe it’s just something we haven’t noticed previously.
Can’t win em all. Since I moved to the hood, it’s been a steady stream of good developments, what with the new brewery, cafe, and Girard school getting green’d up. Don’t know what honestly could have gone here, but there’s already a big laundromat at 20th.
Not to mention the massive laundromat that already exists in the shopping center between 23rd & 24th. .
Yeah you’d almost rather have the building stay closed up. Seriously… If its gonna be an eye sore anyway, then maybe its better that it is a closed eye sore rather than a dingy looking business eye sore.
