Flavors On the Avenue Returns with One Huge Difference

Flavors on the Avenue returns for it’s 11th years with one huge change – this years event is moving from the big tent and into the street.

Flavors on the Avenue on East Passyunk Avenue - April 2017

“The past 11 years Flavors has been a neighborhood favorite and successful, so successful we could no longer accommodate all who wanted to participate. We outgrew the big tent! Making it a street festival allows for more people to attend while giving  exposure to the Avenue as a whole and all that we have to offer,” according to Pam Zenzola, Executive Director of EPABID.

From 12:00 – 5PM on Sunday, April 30th, folks will get to enjoy tasty dishes from more than two dozen award-winning restaurants, all while enjoying the neighborhood-wide street festival atmosphere that visitors to an East Passyunk event have come to enjoy and expect.

‘Flavors Taste’ books, which include a sample-sized dish from every participating restaurant, two glasses of beer or wine (must be 21), and a free valet parking voucher, are available for $50 but if you want in on this – hurry. This offer will most certainly sell out.

Participating restaurants include Bing Bing Dim Sum, Laurel, Tre Scalini, Noord, Will BYOB, Noir, Townsend, Brigantessa, Le Virtu, Paradiso, Stateside, Cantina los Caballitos, Mamma Maria, P’unk Burger, Marra’s and Plenty  Café with more to come.

Fun Fact: Paradiso, Le Virtu, Mamma Maria, Marra’s and Tre Scalini have participated in every single FOTA.

I agree. Glad to see the Post is active again. It would be great to get some updates on some of the vacant properties and other pending projects along our Avenue, including the following:

Palladino & Chiarella Buidlings – Is PARC actively pursuing tenants for each? What happened to the proposed tasting room from Manatawny Distillery!? Things have been quiet for some time!
    Interior Concepts !
Space on 12th and Morris across from Birra…looks like it was fitted to attract a restaurant development. Any news on that space?
King of Jeans! Great progress. Any idea on tenants that may be interested in occupying the retail portion of the property on the ground floor.
Man’s Image – Any idea on expected completion for the Barcelona Restaurant space?
Intersection of E Passyunk and Morris…whatever happened to the modifications they were supposed to make on the crosswalk?

Palladino – allegedly Parc has received a few offers during their bid period, maybe nothing they liked, rent here is around 8k

Chiarella- Rival Bros still going into this space

12th & Morris – Asking rent here is over 7k, no takers yet

Barcelona is due this summer but probably later. They are working inside the building every day.

TY nemesis! There is also a rather large storefront sitting vacant in was more recently the boutique clothing store across from Adobe Café and the Avenue Cheese shop as well further down the avenue. Any news on those vacant storefronts?

Not sure what’s going with the boutique, I remember hearing something about it but whatever that was, can’t remember, didn’t seem to work out.

Avenue Cheese Shop is for rent for $1200, should be scooped up soon. Looks like the space needs a lot of work.

Amelie’s Bark Shop building to go on sale soon.

Also the building with Metro Men’s Clothing just sold. The store’s lease is up August 1st of this year so we’ll see what happens there.

Unclear if the Lebanese restaurant planned for 1807 EPA is moving forward that space was listed for rent again.

Yo Joe! Palladino I was told will be anastasias for a least a year when they renovate their 9th St location. I could see them doing well.

The union really pushed back 12th and passyunk. Was supposed to be may but now aiming for August.

Someone said Starbucks at the king of jeans location but I pray not. Last thing we need is another coffee shop let alone a chain and that will hurt the mom and pops.

Barcelona is making some quick progress now. They were planning for construction to be complete by the end of May, but they had some issues with contractors and are behind schedule. Should be done by the Fall. Plumbing is done (this took a loonngggg time). New roof was just put on with the HVAC system. Interior framing done. Electric and drywall going up now.

That boutique across from Adobe Cafe is not vacant! It’s Us, Lume Creative Learning Studios. We’ve been struggling with L&I for a little while but we will be open in June to offer fabulous arts programming for children and adults. You can meet us at the Easter Egg Hunt or the Kids Zones at Flavors of the Avenue.
