Gennaro’s Tomato Pie is Closing

In 2012, Gennaro’s Tomato Pie opened up in Newbold at Jackson &┬áCarlisle Streets where most nights, seating was at a premium. Three years later, owner Mike Giammarino moved the whole BYO operation to East Passyunk Avenue.

Great spot. Anyone want to open a Greek Taverna?

    1) I really like their pizza. I will miss it.

    2) No way in Hell I’m going to PARX, for any reason. Gamblers don’t care about great pizza. They want free drinks while sucking on a Marlboro.

    3) In spite of their excellent pizza, Gennaro’s never made best use of the space. Open 5 hours a day, 5 days a week is a lot wasted time for such a prime location. Hopefully someone with a little more vision moves in.
