Local Nonprofit Loses Building to Gentrification
After several years of assisting the Latinx community in South Philly, their space at 1537 South 6th Street will soon become another coffee shop.
Juntos, who place blame for the sudden need to relocate squarely in the lap of gentrification, have since launched a GoFundMe campaign with the hopes of raising enough money to secure another space in the neighborhood.
Juntos is a community-led, Latinx immigrant organization in South Philadelphia fighting for our human rights as workers, parents, youth, and immigrants. We believe that every human being has the right to a quality education and the freedom to live with dignity regardless of immigration status.

Boo hoo hoo gentrification. be gone now.
I understand being upset when old rooted establishments get forced out of a neighborhood due to rising rents, but Juntos only moved into this location 2 years ago, probably because they were willing to pay higher rents than the African American Ministry that was there before them. I don’t see any room to complain about gentrification, but I wish them the best and hope they remain in the area.

Your behavior has no place in today’s society. If you have ever been to a restaurant in this city, chances are a Latino cooked your meal. Wish we could say “adios” to people like you.

Why is it that the only people to ever cry about freedom (to support behavior, or the lack of it) are people who have no understanding of what it actually means, and how it relates to our constitution.
I’m sorry but you have no authority to try and dictate what they can and cannot say and the compulsion is disturbing.
The fact of the matter is, we are a nation of laws and we have mechanisms to change them if need be. People who are here in violation of our immigration laws SHOULD remedy this by returning to the country to which they belong and are citizens of.
Bobee and Adios have the law on their side as well as common sense recognized the world over. You have only your angry feelings.
Look at the moral superiority on this one! We get it bud, you’re so tolerant that you want everyone who disagrees with you to leave. Makes total sense.
Gentrification is a fraud. They moving because we live in a free-market economy.
Not every rent/housing increase screams “gentrification.”
That word is thrown around way too much.
