Second District Brewing Co. is coming soon to Newbold

Just over a year ago we shared with you that “large steel vats/barrels inside as well as what looked to be a bar” were spotted at a location in Newbold. What appeared to be the start of some sort of brewpub has finally been confirmed.

Brew pub brewing?

In February, Second District Brewing Co., a collaboration between developer John Longacre and Curt Decker, the owner of Nodding Head, is expected to open at 1939 S. Bancroft St.

Details on the operations of this brewpub are limited at this time, but according to The Insider, there will be eight taps and “fun, smart, tight beer food.”

The property was purchased for $250,000 back in May of 2015 by “West Broad Properties Fun,” with the address listed for LPMG, Longacre’s development company. It has been long-rumored that Longacre would be bringing Nodding Head back to one of his locations, so this new brewpub collaboration with Decker is finally confirmation.

This new brewery will add to the west-of-Broad beer scene, which now includes Brewery ARS and Point Breeze Brewing Company in Grays Ferry.
