Chhaya Cafe has a new owner

Marc Grika has bought Chhaya Cafe at 1819 E. Passyunk Ave. from its founder

Coffee & breakfast spot Chhaya originally opened at 1823 E. Passyunk Ave. In 2014 it moved to larger digs at 1819 East Passyunk.

Michael Klein reports that owner Vernana “V” Beuria has relocated to Washington, D.C. and sold the business to Philadelphia restaurant veteran Marc Grika.

Grika told Klein, “No immediate changes are expected,” though he hopes to “add dinner in September as well as special events, including pop-up dinners from guest chefs.”
