Consider our hopes dashed.
The new business sandwiched between Connie’s Ric Rac and Teri’s bar – which we wished aloud that it could provide the third link to a nightlife anchor on the southern end of the Italian Market – will be a nail salon. Damn.
The storefront at 1128 S. 9th St. that previously housed a medical uniform store called MIA Scrubs is being renovated for a nail salon, according to a worker who came to the door last week. A permit on the door says “personal services” are now allowed.
A medical-uniform supply store called MIA Scrubs is closing at 1128 S. 9th St., which is flanked by Teri’s on one side and Connie’s Ric Rac on the other.
The silver lining is that the space is up for rent and zoned CMX-2, which means you could open a restaurant or bar by right (entertainment would need approval).
From the listing by Century 21-Forrester on Craigslist:
This is a large, good clean space in the heart of the 9th Street Market! Good for a retail business, yoga studio, etc. Two powder rooms.
