Visits to the arcade as a child are nostalgic for many, so why not have some of that same childhood fun in a different, more adult setting?

Brewskee-Ball, a national league for Skee-Ball, is looking to revamp this childhood pastime into a competitive game for adults outside of the arcades you frequented as a kid. To kick-off their new Philadelphia league, they’ll be playing at East Passyunk Avenue’s arcade bar, Garage.

What's Happening in:  East Passyunk Crossing 

City to spend $300k on pedestrian improvements at 12th and Passyunk

It’s a helluva time to be a city planner in South Philly.

Only a couple weeks after the announcement that a “gateway” to Passyunk Avenue will be built at Broad and McKean, we’ve gotten word that the city is planning to make major improvements to the wide intersection where the avenue meets 12th and Morris streets.

Sam Sherman, director of the Passyunk Avenue Revitalization Corporation, said the plan is to improve pedestrian crossings, green the intersection, upgrade the lighting and raise the dead triangle in the middle to provide a spot for pedestrians.

What's Happening in:  Passyunk Square 

Garage to activate its lunch truck with rotating roster of chefs

The craft-can bar Garage at at 1231 E. Passyunk Ave. (9th and Passyunk) is finally starting to make good on that promise to bring in a rotating roster of chefs to serve food from its built-in lunch truck. First up, Mackenzie Hilton of The Tavern in the Gayborhood is doing a test run tonight (see the menu of sliders below).

It’s a one-night-only beta testing event, so the food will be available from 8 to 11 p.m.

“We’re in the process of booking chefs for the cart now, and have a handful set with monthly spots,” owner Jason Evenchik told us. “We’ll have people popping through for one offs but won’t have it fully booked for a few weeks. We’re pretty excited, should be an interesting mix.”
