A developer is scheduled to unveil plans next month for a mixed-used building for 1240-52 South St., a lot that has been vacant so long that the mural on the neighboring Harry’s Occult Shop has become a South Street icon.
The Hawthorne Empowerment Coalition is set to hear a proposal on March 11 for a mixed-use building with ground floor retail and residential above. Zoning chair Ari Seraphin said the builder is asking to build five stories to 50 feet, exceeding the permitted height of 38 feet.
