Pat’s Steaks guest chef series continues with a visit from Jose Garces

Kelp granules, fried mortadella and more ingredients uncharacteristic of the Pat’s Steaks we all know have been showing up in sandwiches at the long-standing East Passyunk Avenue spot.

Why, do you ask? Pat’s Steaks has been running a guest chef series, serving vegetarian “cheesesteaks” from┬áSally Eisenberg and Italian Cubano-like sandwiches from Marc Vetri. Next up in the guest chef series is Jose Garces, known for restaurants like Amada and Garces Trading Company.

Order it wit kelp granules: Pat’s steaks starts a guest chef series

Instead of your normal cheesesteak from Pat’s wit or wit-out onions, today you can order a “cheesesteak” wit kelp granules, broccoli rabe and Muenster cheese. Sounds a little odd from Pat’s, doesn’t it?

The 85-year-old establishment is launching the first installment of a new guest chef series on Thursday, January 7 where you’ll have the chance to try a vegetarian cheesesteak–something most of us never expected to see at Pat’s.
