As you might recall, Gennaro’s Tomato Pie was originally set to move across from the Singing Fountain. Plans then changed, which lead to the opening of Grace & Pat’s.

New restaurant from Gennaro’s Tomato Pie will be called Grace & Pat’s

In October we broke the news about Gennaro’s Tomato Pie closing up their current location at 1429 Jackson St. and replacing Da Vinci Ristorante at 1533 S. 11th St. According to owner Mike Giammarino, the plans have changed and the current location will remain open as Gennaro’s, but this new restaurant, to be called Grace & Pat’s, will open in this larger location just off of E. A-number-1 in the entire state.

While you already know they’re moving into a bigger, more prominent space at the former Da Vinci spot at 1533 S. 11th St. sometime within 2015, Thillist recently named Gennaro’s the Best Pizza in the entire state of Pennsylvania. Considering they’ve only been open for about two years, that’s some lofty recognition.

Gennaro’s Tomato Pie to replace Da Vinci Ristorante on E. Passyunk Ave.

UPDATE: Gennaro’s will relocate to E. Passyunk Ave. from their Jackson St. location, The Insider confirmed through owner Mike Giammarino. ”We’re not big enough to take reservations and too small for larger parties,” Giammarino said. The new Gennaro’s won’t open until “mid-2015″ and will be BYOB offering courtyard seating. The future of the Jackson St. location is unknown.

Original: Well, this is a little bit of a surprise. Da Vinci Ristorante at 1533 S. 11th St. is “permanently closed” according to the restaurant’s answering machine.
