The Mexican restaurant from Christina Martinez and Ben Miller is now being called one of the country’s best new restaurants from Bon Appétit magazine. South Philly Barbacoa made the list of 50, along with Fishtown-based Wm. Mulherin’s Sons.
South Philly Barbacoa, the popular food cart previously located at 8th and Watkins, closed at the end of June to prepare for a bigger move. The Mexican food spot is no longer operating out of a food cart and now occupies an East Passyunk Crossing storefront.
This new location, which offers dine-in, take-out and delivery, opened on the Fourth of July at 1703 S. 11th St., which is Vegan Commissary’s former location.
