Get a preview of the future of Carpenter Green at a backyard BBQ event

Carpenter Green has been a work-in-progress at 17th and Carpenter for years now. Phase I was completed in the fall of 2015, and the rest of the project is expected to be completed in 2017 once funding is completely secured.

While it will still be a while until Carpenter Green becomes a full fledged community space, you’ll have a chance to get a preview of the park with a backyard BBQ event that will be held there in June.

First phase of construction has started for Carpenter Green

Carpenter Green, the future park location at 17th and Carpenter, is starting to come to life, with Phase I of the project happening now.

This phase includes the groundbreaking for the park space, along with the structural pieces being placed, including the storm water management structure, conduit and piping.

Work set to begin on Carpenter Green project

Earlier this year we told you that the vacant lot at 17th and Carpenter was being rezoned for use as parkland for the Carpenter Green project.

Now work is beginning to get the park up and running, with hopes of completion for Fall 2016.

Back in March we told you about the Carpenter Green project and showed you some of the possible designs for the proposed park for the vacant lot at 17th and Carpenter.

Councilman Kenyatta Johnson introduced a new bill just last week that will rezone the property from a residential and commercial property to park space.
