Jinxed taking over Era Atomica’s space at 1835 E. Passyunk Ave.

Jinxed, the vintage furnishing store with three other locations throughout the city, is taking over Era Atomica’s space at 1835 E. Passyunk Ave.

While we don’t know yet what that means for the future of Era Atomica, the space will have a similar vintage vibe that will pair well with the upstairs tenant, Eastern Pass Tattoo, which moved in earlier this fall.

First Pics: Eastern Pass Tattoo opens above Era Atomica

Eastern Pass Tattoo is now open above Era Atomica at 1835 E. Passyunk Ave.

The new tattoo shop is run by Scott Bakoss and Mike Hooligan. Both artists worked together at Kadillac Tattoo Deuce in Northeast Philly. Hooligan still works at Kadillac after more than 10 years as an artist there, but Bakoss now tattoos full time at their new spot on E. Passyunk Ave.

First Pics: Era Atomica moves into new location at 1835 E. Passyunk Ave.

Era Atomica has completed its move to the new location at  1835 E Passyunk Ave.

The mid-century modern furniture shop, which decamped from smaller quarters a block up, threw an opening party this weekend in their much larger showroom. They are still stocking up so they haven’t yet launched their new features, which include selling vintage clothes and offering re-upholstering services.

Tattoo parlor proposed for second floor of Era Atomica’s new location

Mid-century modern meets Miami Ink?

Well, not exactly, but vintage furniture shop Era Atomica is planning to include a tattoo parlor on the second floor of its new location.

Hard at work yesterday with the door open, even at -7 wind chill, literally.

As we reported last month, the retailer snapped up all three floors of 1835 E Passyunk Ave., the old Tan Quest, which closed only a week before the new lease was signed. In addition to the proposed tattoo parlor, the shop is expanding its furniture selection and adding vintage clothing and reupolstering.

The new tenant for the old TanQuest at 1835 E Passyunk Ave. will be Era Atomica, which is moving one block from its cramped strorefront at 1726 E Passyunk Ave.

Owner Stacey Bartholetti said she hopes to open her mid-century furniture store (technically not the antique store her new landlord told us about) in the new location within six weeks, after a thorough remodeling of all three floors of the space.  Continue Reading →
