2012 Wharton development receives zoning board approval

In 2013 plans were first presented for a 50 home development at 2012 Wharton St. in Point Breeze. The project then went quiet for a few years, with not much movement beyond the demolition of a large warehouse that stood on the property.

We then fast forward to 2016, when new plans for the project reemerged. This large development has now received the necessary approval from the Zoning Board of Adjustment.

Planning Commission votes in support of huge Point Breeze development, neighborhood fights against it

Just last week we told you about the resurgence of this massive development project with 46 single-family homes proposed for 2012 Wharton St.

Already the development is causing outrage for Point Breeze residents. The huge, industrial-zoned lot currently houses a warehouse that’s being demolished. The Planning Commission said this week that they approve of allowing for residential building on this lot, but residents seem to be thinking otherwise.

New plans to be presented tonight for massive Point Breeze development

In 2013 we had told you about some plans for a huge development in Point Breeze that would include close to 50 new homes.

At the time, there were two major developments in the works, the one being the now-approved 22-home development for 20th and Wharton. Now that the smaller project is reaching construction stages, this larger project at 2012 Wharton St., with 46-homes proposed, will finally be presenting new plans for the development.

Another huge development proposed for Point Breeze

UPDATE: A ridiculous flier is being distributed to oppose this 22-home development, as well as a previously proposed 48-home project near 20th and Wharton. The meeting is Monday, April 28 at 6 p.m. at Gospel Temple Baptist Church, 1327 S. 19th St. An agenda for the meeting by South Philadelphia Homes Inc. is here.

What the hell are they talking about with 300 residents with pit bulls? Scare tactic, maybe?

A development of 22 homes could be coming to 20th and Wharton streets on the site of a vacant warehouse. The would-be development sits across little Woodstock Street from another proposal that would bring 48 additional homes within steps of Point Breeze Avenue, which we reported about in October.

Naked Philly reports that both plots of land are under contract by OCF Holdings, owned by developer Ori Feibush, but that each project is being completed by a different developer. JKR partners has designed the homes for both projects:
