Plenty Cafe to open Queen Village location next week

Back in 2014 we first told you about the plans for Plenty Cafe to open a new Queen Village location. To open this cafe, they would need to fully renovate the former Fleishman Fabrics building, in the process creating the eight-unit Fabric Loft apartments upstairs.

After two years of work, the cafe is finally ready for its debut at 705 S. 5th St. On Monday, November 14 you’ll have the chance to stop in at Plenty’s biggest location yet.

While Bainbridge Green, the area between 3rd and 5th Streets on Bainbridge, is not getting redone just yet, the community space is seeing some smaller-scale updates in the form of public art.

Plenty aiming to open Queen Village location in September

It’s been a while since Plenty announced plans for a new Queen Village location. That announcement happened over two years ago and since then, owners Anthony and Damon Mascieri have been hard at work on this new location, while also improving upon their other locations with renovations and the addition of a liquor license.

Plenty Cafe’s East Passyunk Avenue location.

Plenty’s new Queen Village cafe, coming to the former Fleishman’s Fabrics location at 705 S. 5th St., is finally approaching the finish line. According to Eater, the soon-to-be biggest location of Plenty is aiming for an opening in September.

Vare-Washington to see $100,000 in improvements for United Way Day of Service in September

Southwark Elementary isn’t the only area school seeing some big improvements.

Vare-Washington, located at 1198 S. 5th St., has been chosen as a location for the United Way Day of Service in September. With the honor of hosting this service day comes the receipt of funding for $100,000 for improvements to the school and over 300 volunteers for the event in September.

New owner of Living Room Cafe plans for market ‘kind of like Green Aisle’ next door

The Living Room Cafe was brought back to life in September of 2015 at 703 S. 5th St. Now the brunch-themed restaurant has reopened yet again under new ownership, with aims towards even bigger things.

While some things have been changing since opening under new ownership in January, including a new locally-sourced, farm-to-table menu (maybe a new spot for all of you missing Fourth and Cross), the biggest new things for the establishment are yet to come. In the span of 6 to 9 months, The Living Room Cafe plans to open a market, “kind of like Green Aisle Grocery,” in the Vivi Bubble Tea shop directly next door.
