The Argentinian-Italian BYOB 943 in the Italian Market is doubling down with a liquor license, if the bright orange sign in the window is to be believed.
The license is listed on the PLCB website as under chef/owner Pascual “Pat” Cancelliere and Eugene B. Lefebre, about whom we couldn’t find any information. It is being transferred to the restaurant, at 943 S. 9th St., from a defunct branch of the chain restaurant Bugaboo Creek next to Franklin Mills.
Besides having a decidedly un-SEO-friendly name, 943 has had some trouble hitting its stride. A favorable two-bell review by Craig Laban, a notorious stickler for noise, remarked on how quiet the restaurant was on his visits. Then the place ran a Groupon, which is never a sign of success. And finally, Cancelliere had to temporarily close this summer to undergo heart surgery.

Here’s hoping that some booze will get the party going, or rather, started. So, has anyone actually been to the restaurant. What did you think?
