  • 10 am to 8 pm, Odunde Festival, 23rd and South.  Enjoy one of the largest and most longstanding African-American street festivals in the nation. The enormous festival, which began in 1975, takes over a dozen-block radius in the Graduate Hospital neighborhood, gathering hundreds of vendors from around the world.

Say it ain’t so: Wendy’s planned for old bank at Broad and Snyder

When the old Beneficial Bank building at Broad and Snyder was sold a few years ago, the future was hopeful for the corner property.

In October 2015 a tenant was obtained, but at the time was not being disclosed. Now we know the future of this commercial space and it’s not nearly as bright as we had hoped. Wendy’s fast food chain is expected to open a location here.

Sale closes on bank at Broad and Snyder & it’s for rent. Hear that South Philly Co-op?

The sale on the Beneficial Bank building at Broad and Snyder, which we told you was pending in December, closed that month for $740,000, according to city records.

Imagine the possibilities.

The building was listed for $799,000 and included 3,800 square feet on the first floor and a 1,500 square foot mezzanine. Now, it’s been put up for rent by Metro Commercial Leasing. The listing doesn’t indicate what the new owners want for the building, only saying the rent is negotiable.
