19 South Philly dining destinations rank on Philly Mag’s ’50 Best Restaurants’ list

Every year Philly Mag releases their list of the city’s best restaurants. With South Philly’s top notch dining spots, we’ve come to expect a strong turnout on lists like this one. For the end of 2016, these 19 South Philly spots ranked in the top 50.

Laurel has been knocked out of the number one spot that it held on the list for years, but that doesn’t change the East Passyunk Avenue restaurant’s reputation one bit. After all, it is now a four bell restaurant, and number 2 on the list isn’t too bad either.

Spotted: Bing Bing Dim Sum has a new mural

Bing Bing Dim Sum is continuing to improve the outdoor space of the restaurant.

Very recently the contemporary Asian restaurant was given an award from the Community Design Collaborative for the utilization of the outdoor space of the restaurant along East Passyunk Avenue. This new mural is adding even more curb appeal to Bing Bing at 1648 E. Passyunk Ave.

What's Happening in:  East Passyunk Crossing :  Graduate Hospital 

Little Spoon Cafe, Bing Bing Dim Sum honored in Community Design Collaborative Storefront Challenge

A South Street West cafe and an East Passyunk Avenue restaurant were among the winners in the Community Design Collaborative’s 2016 Storefront Challenge. The bi-yearly competition highlights how these more recent businesses are working to transform their spaces, creating curb appeal across the city.

Two South Philly businesses came out as winners of this year’s awards. Little Spoon Cafe, located at 1500 South St., and Bing Bing Dim Sum at 1638 E. Passyunk Ave., were both honored.
