Former Peirce School has been listed for sale

Three former South Philly educational facilities were part of a large sale of schools in 2014. Since then, Bok has been transformed into a multi-use facility and the other two schools are projects in the works by the Concordia group.

Ori Feibush will soon own Christian Street’s Sidecar Bar & Grille

At Thanksgiving, Adam Ritter very suddenly shut down Kermit’s Bake Shoppe on Washington Avenue.

Now a month later, he’s in the process of selling his other restaurant, Sidecar Bar & Grille, located at 22nd and Christian. Ori Feibush will be purchasing the business, adding to his restaurant repertoire which includes the newly-opened Burg’s Lounge in Point Breeze.

What's Happening in:  Queen Village 

Queen Village Shopping Center to be transformed with addition of 14 apartments above retail

The Queen Village Shopping Center at 2nd and Christian is currently home to a pharmacy, a cleaners, a 7-eleven and a Chinese food spot. Soon it could also become a home for some.

A look at renderings for the reuse of historic First African Baptist Church

At the beginning of 2016, developers purchased the First African Baptist Church at 16th and Christian. Since the church is on the city’s register of historic locations, the plans for development would need to involve the reuse of the building.

We now have a better look at plans for the historic location. The church, the rectory and the parking lot will all be transformed for use as a daycare facility, a five-story condo building and a single-family home.

What's Happening in:  Bella Vista :  Queen Village 

How is a fresh food market exception being used to build a mixed-use development at 601 Christian?

The one-time community space at  6th, Passyunk and Christian has been in flux since the park was closed in 2013. Earlier this year plans were first presented for a new mixed-use development for the lot, but residents and the ZBA resisted based on height restrictions and a failure to meet an open space requirement.

Plans recently reemerged, with the developers using a special exception with the addition of a fresh food market that would move the project forward through the zoning process and allow for even more height than originally planned. Some residents are clearly not pleased with this, as we reported when Friends of Triangle Park launched a GoFundMe to raise money to appeal the zoning permits granted to this development. So how exactly does this fresh food market exception work?
