Top development stories of 2015

In 2015, we followed some sizable development projects. There were quite a few meetings regarding the long-debated 9th and Wharton development, demolition beginning soon for a mixed-use project near Broad and Washington, talk of pedestrian improvements along East Passyunk Avenue and much more. While there’s plenty of note, these were the stories that sparked your interest the most in 2015.

Grab some food & booze while raising $$ for Columbus Square Park’s redesign

The forces behind the proposed $3 million redesign of Columbus Square Park are throwing a rooftop cocktail party on Sept. 12 to raise money for the effort.

Organizers expect more than 150 people at the party, to be held across the street on the rook deck of Wharton Street Lofts at 12th and Wharton. The $25 ticket price will get you complimentary wine and beer, and the event “will highlight many of the delicious tastes of the ‘Avenue’ (Passyunk) and beyond,” according to a press release.

Dead. For now?

Dead. For now?

Addimando met significant resistance to his proposal for a 34-unit apartment building on the lot at a meeting two weeks ago, but that doesn’t mean an apartment building won’t end up on the lot, on 12th Street between the firehouse at Reed and the Wharton Street Lofts, which Addimando is finishing now.
