Fundraiser being held for South Philadelphia Older Adult Center’s garden space

Outside of the South Philadelphia Older Adult Center at 1430 E. Passyunk Ave. is a volunteer-run garden that began in 2008.

To keep the garden as a beautiful community space, a fundraiser is be held to raise money to help maintain the garden at the corner of East Passyunk Avenue and Dickinson Street.

Art-inspired theatrical performance to be held in May at Southwark/Queen Village Community Garden

On Sunday, May 8 and Monday, May 9, you’ll have the chance to experience a South Philly community garden in a new way.

Renegade Company and Spirit Forward are bringing together theater and cocktails inspired by a famous painting. Hieronymus Bosch’s “The Garden of Earthly Delights” will serve as inspiration for the performance at the Southwark/Queen Village Community Garden at 311 Christian St.

What's Happening in:  Lower Moyamensing 

PHS recognizes Lukoil gas station community garden in gardening and greening contest

In Lower Moyamensing, the Lukoil gas station at 11th and Snyder has become much more than just a place to stop for gas.

While you can of course still stop by to fuel up, a small community garden space was created on the property to bring greenery to an unexpected place. Now the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society is recognizing this gas station garden as a “garden of distinction” in their gardening and greening contest.
