Spotted: Netting being installed along CSX bridge

Plans were in announced in April for improvements for the CSX bridge along 25th Street.

The beginning phases are being completed now, including the installation of netting to prevent additional concrete from falling and hurting pedestrians or vehicles. This is to prevent incidents like this one in April, where concrete fell onto the passenger-side of a sedan.

Near-tragic accident increases concerns about crumbling 25th Street viaduct

Just after plans for the renovation of the 25th Street viaduct were announced two weeks ago, a near-tragic accident occurred because of the crumbling bridge.

Late last week, a large chunk of concrete from the CSX train bridge fell onto a BMW sedan near 25th and Dickinson.

Plans announced for the restoration of 25th Street Viaduct

The long-time crumbling CSX train bridge on 25th street will soon be getting some much-needed restoration.

Back in January 2014 we reported on a huge chunk of concrete that fell from the bridge, raising concerns for many neighbors and also from Councilman Kenyatta Johnson. Now Johnson and CSX have announced a four-phase project for the restoration of the 25th Street viaduct.
