Brewskee-Ball, a national league for Skee-Ball, is looking to revamp this childhood pastime into a competitive game for adults outside of the arcades you frequented as a kid. To kick-off their new Philadelphia league, they’ll be playing at East Passyunk Avenue’s arcade bar, Garage.

  • This house at 926 Synder Ave., which is on the market for $215,000, was once the home of former Philly mob boss Antonio Dominic Pollina, aka Mr. Migs, who took over the local La Cosa Nostra in 1959, says Property Philly.
  • Garage’s food cart is chugging right along, bringing an eclectic mix to the food scene around cheesesteak central with just 10 square feet of “kitchen,” reports the Daily News.
  • A modern five-home development has been proposed for the 1900 block of Reed Street in Point Breeze, on the northeast corner of Opal & Reed, reports Naked Philly.

That was quick. South Philly Barbacoa will NOT be in Zagar warehouse

The proposed lamb barbecue joint by chef Benjamin Miller and his wife Cristina Martinez, South Philly Barbacoa, will not be located in Isaiah Zagar’s mosaic warehouse on Watkins Street after all.

Miller gave an information-only presentation to the East Passyunk Crossing Civic Association’s zoning committee last month to gauge community feedback and met “considerable resistance from the neighborhood about a restaurant opening there,” he told us yesterday.

“I hope that something really cool can happen there so it can show off that awesome space but I don’t think it will be restaurant,” Miller said. “It’s a residential neighborhood, on a little side street, and there’s no parking. But it was a great idea for our project.”

At long last, the craft-can bar Garage is expected to open at 1231 E. Passyunk Ave. this weekend, and Michael Klein at says it will be tonight. Check out our pictures of the inside here, then plan your skee-ball strategy.

The Cat Circus is coming to town. Well, it’s more of an obstacle course, but it does seem pretty interesting.

Our fantastic felines will amuse and amaze your guests as they ride skateboards, ring bells, roll barrels, walk the high wire, climb ropes, push a shopping cart, jump through hoops, and even run a cat-size agility course.

Well, OK, then. Painted Bride Arts Center, 230 Vine Street. Tickets: $18. Shows each day at 7 p.m., plus at 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, and 1 p.m. Sunday.


It’s second Saturday on East Passyunk again, and in addition to more than two dozen specials and events, B2 is celebrating its 5th Anniversary with an art sale with the proceeds benefiting Jackson Elementary. Passyunk and Dickinson.
