Holiday Craft Bazaar and Visit with Santa Claus
Join the Friends of the Donatucci Library for a visit with Santa, enjoy some cookies, and shop for local hand-made crafts.

Typewriter Letters to Santa
Children of all ages are welcome to type a letter to Saint Nick on decorated stationary using one of Philly Typewriter’s vintage machines. Take your letter home to mail to the North Pole or bring it to one of East Passyunk Avenue’s Photos With Santa events.

Gold Star Park Winter Lights Celebration
Kids’ art activity and celebration of lights.

Winter Wonderland – South Street Headhouse Tree Lighting
Santa Claus will arrive on a firetruck, greet children, and collect their wish lists. Music, treats, and gift shopping will also be part of the event. CBS3 meteorologist Chelsea Ingram will help Santa count down to the official lighting of the tree at 5:00pm.

When: Sunday, December 2, 4 – 6 pm

Eagles vs. Redskins – Green Legion Home Game Tailgate
One of the best home tailgates in South Philly.

Family Vacation to rock Gold Star Park Wednesday night.

Bust out your picnic blankets and best shoulder-dancin’ moves, Gold Star Park welcomes Family Vacation to 7th and Wharton Street for a free open-air summer concert tonight, July 9 starting at 7 p.m.

This is the second show in the “Summer Concert Series” at the park, which saw Caribbean ensemble Trinidelphia perform in June. The concerts are held the second Wednesday of each month, with the final one scheduled for August 13th.

Music in Gold Star Park returns — now with less concrete

Thanks to one civic-minded bachelor, a 600 square foot section of concrete was removed from Gold Star Park on the 600 block of Wharton Street last month, providing a little extra natural surrounding for the summer music series that starts tomorrow.

On May 3 Tom Halliwell, a worker at the Philadelphia Water Department, gathered up his buddies for his bachelor party to depave an area that’s adjacent to the play structure, said a friend of the park. He had a dumpster delivered at his expense to dispose of the asphalt, and they dug up the ground under the pavement and lay grass seed.

What's Happening in:  Passyunk Square 

Gold Star’s Music in the Park returns for the summer starting tonight

UPDATE: Torrential rains are not friendly to outdoor events. Rain date is next Thursday, June 20.

The Friends of Gold Star Park on the 600 block of Wharton are resurrecting their popular (and free) monthly summer music nights and the first performance happens tonight at 7 p.m.

The band will be Johnnie Verbal’s Enablers. The concerts are family-friendly and you can bring your own chair or blanket plus some food for a nice, musical evening in the park.
