SoPhilly Spotlight: Why is this so cheap edition

Today’s spotlight is an almost 2,000-square-foot home at 5th and Federal for the low, low price of $1,400 a month. It has 3 bedrooms, 1.5 baths, central air and a nice-sized backyard with actual grass.

Now, we don’t know if you can put a monetary value on grass, but we think you can probably attribute the low rent to the fact that this house is in the Jefferson Square development, which were originally sold as affordable housing, with the price based on income.

From the listing, by Summit Realty:

Large twin/semi detached/corner [with] Eat-in-kitchen with pantry, storage area. Kitchen gives access to large rear yard and one car garage. Second floor: walk into a spacious hall area with hall closet. Master bedroom with walk-in closet. Second and third bedrooms are nice size with closets. Large 3-piece bath and separate laundry room. Available immediately.

We’re getting a little tired of hearing about these amazing “3-piece baths.” The last time we saw a 2-piece bath was in New York, where tenants don’t mind brushing their teeth at the kitchen sink.
