Luna Theater Company to remain in current Bella Vista church space

A few months back the Luna Theater announced their search for new locations after hearing the news of the closing of the the Church of the Crucifixion at 620 S 8th St., the location they called home for two years.

It looks like the Luna Theater Company will no longer need to find a new location, with the church being deemed as safe and their lease being extended.

To-Do List: Craft Beer Express; tweed burns; ‘Orange’; Cambridge chili

There’s lots of stuff in this week’s To-Do List, which now includes listings from our new events calendar, as well as a smattering of other fun stuff from around the city. If you have something to add, please put it in the comments, or you can submit future events to our calendar here.

Saturday 

  •  Twelve beer bars around the city are participating in the Craft Beer Express. Buses will run a loop around the city from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. with stops at each bar. A bus pass costs $10 and includes unlimited rides for the day. South Philly-based bars will include Pub on Passyunk East, Brauhaus Schmitz, Devil’s Den, Jose Pistolas and much more.
  • Dig out the old tweed blazer and hat in your closet for the annual Tweed Ride Philadelphia. The ride starts at 11 a.m. at the Water Works Restaurant and Lounge, stops for a picnic and comes to an end at Rembrandt’s in Fairmount. The event is free, but donations to Philabundance are accepted. For more information, visit http://tweedride.phlbikes.com/. What's Happening in:  Bella Vista 

Luna Theater opens in new Bella Vista home at 620 S 8th St.

The Luna Theater Company has found a new permanent home in an Episcopal church at 620 S 8th St.

The company’s website says they produce work that “delves into the human psyche. We seek to become the destination for today’s provocative voices, which share our aesthetic for the darkly tragic-comic.”

The first production, A Clockwork Orange, certainly fits the bill. The show actually opened Oct. 19, but it runs through Nov. 9, so we’re not too late!
